2020 Watering Days & Exemptions
Perth’s watering ban applies to Water Corporation’s Scheme Water and bore water. This ban affects everyone in the Perth Metro and some post codes in the South West.
During this time, our water consumption as a city diminishes and we increase the efficiency of our water usage.
Our climate becomes wetter, cooler and we have lower evaporation rates. This means we can irrigate our gardens and lawns with less and it has a high absorption rate.
Garden bores across perth access the superficial groundwater aquifiers. These are shallow deposits of ground water that are replenished by rain, underground rivers and tributaries and run off.
The main period of replenishment is during the watering ban. This is why it important to reduce water consumption especially from your garden bore.
Exemptions
Newly laid lawns and gardens require additional water to grow and establish root systems.Â
Under these conditions, you can apply for a watering exemption that allows you to irrigate daily for small periods and frequency.
Programming your Irrigation
The majority of irrigation systems both residential and commercial are controlled by Wifi enabled smart controllers such as Hunter Industries’ Hydrawise controllers.
During the watering ban, it is necessary to program your irrigation controller to the limited days and times your post code allows.Â

Part of our services include water management. This means we have control and responsibility to keep gardens, lawns and vertical living walls healthy and legally watering throughout the year.
