Sewage Treatment

Fuji Clean CE-1500EX & BioLytix

Certified

Installation & Servicing

Earth & Water Technicians are certified to install and complete routine services for Fuji Clean and Biolytix waste water treatment systems. These onsite sewage treatment systems process black water and recycle it as useable water for lawns and gardens.

Decentralized sewage treatment systems are common across Perth and on rural properties where many of our installations occur. These are sites where Water Corporation has not extended their services to such as City Beach and South of Coogee. For a brief explanation of how sewage is treated by Water Corporation read their web page at How is Wastewater Treated? The same process is shrunk down and provided as a onsite unit by numerous water treatment companies globally.

Compliance

We work with clients to design systems that are suitable for the site and will comply with standards set by the Water Corporation, local council and legislation set by the Department of Health. Due to the hazardous nature of sewage, decentralized water treatment systems follow stringent installation rules and require continual service checks.

Installations

Site Visit

certified water technician will complete onsite technical analysis – recording data to design an appropriate system and quote.

  • Site plan (beds, toilets, wastewater outlets).
  • Landscape plan indicating the wastewater dispersal area.
  • Designated final area (lawn, garden, orchard).

Quote

Prior planning prevents poor performance.

The quote and accompanying schematic documents are the culmination of detailed technical design, liasing with the Department of Health, drafting and a comprehensive understanding of the site.

Installation

The physical installation occurs after compliance has been met and the quote has been approved by the client.

In some locations a Health Officer will visit the site prior to issuing a Permit to continue with installation.

Servicing

There is an ongoing cost to owning and running an onsite sewage treatment system. Routine checks up are required by the Department of Health.

Routine servicing and check up are usually 3, 6 or 9 month periods and cost between $200 and $400 – given no critical changes need to be made.

Routine Servicing & Check ups

These are required by the Department of Health and must be carried out by a certified technician.

For newly installed systems these are very simple checks ups that ensure it was completed properly.

  • Approx. 90 minutes onsite and cost between $200 and $400.

This cost is minimised by Earth & Water’s high standards of installation and design with long term costs in mind.

For older systems the check ups are less regular and usually prompted by system failures that produce odour and blockages. In these cases the solution is more complex and costly.

Common issues:
  • Blocked membrane in treatment unit
  • Broked or weak air pump causing important bacteria to die
  • No waste water dispersion from tank resulting in dead garden and lawns
  • Broken pump due to electrical fault that reduces flow rate and daily capacity

 Fuji Clean CE-1500EX

This sewage waste water treatment system is one of the most efficient and prevalent secondary water treatment systems used in a residential setting in Western Australia.

Technical Specifications:

  • 1,500 litre a day treatment capacity
  • 54% Nitrogen reduction
  • 87% Phosphorus reduction
  • 15 Year warranty on tank structure
  • 2 Year warranty electrical components

The Fuji Clean Contact Media Filtration system has six steps that processes waste water until it is useable for gardens and lawns.

  1. Sedimentation Chamber
  2. Anaerobic Filtration Chamber
  3. Aerobic Contact Filtration Chamber
  4. Clarification Chamber
  5. Disinfection
  6. Pump Chamber

Biolytix BioPod

Is another brand of onsite sewage treatment systems that has similar durability and advanced technology to the Fuji Clean unit above.

Technical Specifications:

  • 1,600 litre daily flow rate
  • 5 Day biochemical oxygen demand (BoD5)  < 20 mg/L
  • Suspended solids < 30 mg/L
  • 15 Year minimal serviceble life

Read more about it here

The Biolytix Biopod has a filtration system of 6 chambers that use the same anaerobic and aerobic principles, microbes, as the FujiClean unit.

One of the more interesting features of the Biopod is the use of Tiger Worms (Eisenia Fetida) to keep certain chambers aerated and porous as the worms borrow through organic material.
